Assignment: Write a post based on the contrast between two things – whether people, objects, emotions, places, or something else. Write the post in the form of a dialogue.
“Did you complete the application?” Dee asked Ann, as she opened the door.
“Well, hello to you too, Dee,” Ann replied. “And how are you today?”
“I am fine and will be even better if you answer my question. Did you complete the application?”
Dee, took a deep breath, then another, attempting to calm herself. Perhaps she should have taken several more, and added a prayer, because her words still came out with an edge.
“Are you kidding me? The one that you begged me to pick up on Monday from the training center clear across town because you could not get there on the bus before it closed. The one I missed my lunch break to get! The one that is due this Friday!”
By now Dee’s hands were clenched, fingers pressed against her palms, images of shaking her sister until Ann’s teeth rattled or common sense entered her brain, flashed through her mind.
“I am so through with your irresponsible behavior!”
Ann slowly brought her right hand from behind her back. Waving a manila folder slowly back and forth, she asked with a wide grin, “This application?”
“Arrgh! Can’t you be serious for one second?”
“I could, if you would lighten up, Sis. I could not resist messing with you. You make it so easy. The expression on your face was hilarious.”
“Lighten up? The expression on my face? You are lucky you are not experiencing whip lash. I wanted to shake you.”
“Come on, Sis,” Ann cajoled, moving toward Dee with open arms. “Hug and make up?”
Dee shook her head, exhaled deeply and reached for her sister.
